today starts the last challenge for this year over at the bastel-traum.ch blog. The new theme is «Shaker card/Special card shape».

 

This challenge will run until January 15th, 8:55 am CET (Central European Time).

It's also the last challenge for me as a DT member because I decided to step down. Thank you Ute and Tom for having me! Best luck to you and the DT girls ♥

I created this elegant and feminine Christmas shaker card using the beautiful Hero Arts «Deer and Ornament Fancy Die».

For the yummy background, I blended together the Distress Oxide Inks «Tattered Rose», «Worn Lipstick» and «Picked Raspberry». I die cut the negative deers/leafy image from white cardstock and adhered a piece of acetate behind it. The sentiment from the Hello Bluebird «Rooftop Reindeer» set was heat embossed in gold.

To create my shaker, I popped up the die cut panel with foam tape. I filled in pretty sequins and seed beads in clear, gold and pink tones by Little Things from Lucy's Cards.

Hero Arts Manatee Birthday Card

Happy Monday everyone,

today I want to share with you the birthday card that I made for my dad featuring the Hero Arts «Manatee Stamp & Cut» set. It contains some coordinating dies to match the stamps which is very convenient.

I colored the images with Copics and dressed up the manatee with a top hat and a tied bow. For the background, I sponged some Distress Oxide Inks («Salty Ocean», «Peacock Feathers» and «Cracked Pistachio») through a fun starburst stencil by Florilèges («Etoile Rayonnante»).

I stamped the sentiment from the same set in VersaFine «Onyx Black» and added black enamel dots to finish off my card.

DT bastel-traum.ch Challenge #48

Hi everyone,

it's already time for the last bastel-traum.ch Challenge of the year. The new theme is «Watercolor».

 

This challenge will run until January 15th, 8:55 am CET (Central European Time).

For my card I used a winter scene which I stamped and colored for Kathy Racoosin's The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Although I'm still learning to use my ZIGs properly, I enjoyed watercoloring these adorable images from the Hero Arts «Winter Time Fun» set.

I stamped the sentiment in black and two small snowflakes in blue and used a white Sharpie pen to draw the falling snow. Next, I framed my scene using the largest of the My Favorite Things «Single Stitch Line Square Frames» Die-namics. I also hand-cut two banners (from patterned paper and glitter tape) and layered them on top of each other. Finally, I adhered the framed scene with foam tape to a white square card base.

Hero Arts Christmas Wreath

Hi peeps,

today I'm back again with another Christmas card. This time I combined the beautiful Hero Arts «Wreath of Leaves» and the Mama Elephant «Merry Script» die.

The wreath was stamped with white HA «Unicorn Pigment Ink» on Kraft cardstock. Thanks to the MISTI, I was able to repeatedly stamp the image to get a crisp and bright impression. Then I die-cut the large word «merry» from dark red cardstock and covered it with clear embossing powder to give it a glossy finish. I stamped the word «Christmas» (My Favorite Things «Hand Lettered Holiday) in black and decorated the wreath with red and white sequins.

DT bastel-traum.ch Challenge #44

Hello everyone,

today starts the new bastel-traum.ch Challenge with the theme «Mask/Stencil/Die Cutting».

 

This challenge will run until September 15th, 8:55 am CET (Central European Time).

Here's the CAS card that I made:

At first, I die-cut a butterfly shape from Inkadinkado masking paper using one of the Stampin' Up! «Butterflies Thinlits». I adhered the negative piece onto some white cardstock. I softly sponged Simon Says Stamp «Maliblue» ink through the cut out of the masking paper. Then I placed the Hero Arts «Leaf & Flourish» stencil on top and secured it with washi tape. I took the darker SSS «Audrey Blue» ink to stencil the pattern onto the butterfly. I really liked the crisp result which has been revealed after removing the masking paper.

I cut my panel with the largest My Favorite Things «Inside Out Diagonal Stitched Square Stax» Die-namics and adhered it to my card base made from SU «Pool Party» cardstock. Then I die-cut the gorgeous Hero Arts «hello» once from silver glitter paper and two times from white cardstock. I stacked the word die-cuts together and adhered them over my stenciled butterfly. To finish my card I added some rhinestones and sparkling clear sequins.

DT Make it Crafty CAS Challenge #14 | Acetate Card

Hi everyone,

today I want to share with you the card that I made for the current Make it Crafty Clean and Simple Challenge with the theme «Clear Plastic/Acetate».

For my card base I used one of the handy Hero Arts acetate cards. At first, I cut the My Favorite Things «Snow Drifts Cover-Up» Die-namics from pink cardstock. I carefully adhered it to the card front with «Multi-Medium Matte» by Ranger. Then I decorated it with the fabulous Outlined Words With Love Chipboards. I heat embossed the outline of the word «love» and also the hearts with white embossing powder. The word itself was heat embossed in black. I added a banner with a white embossed Papertrey Ink sentiment.

For the inside of my card I tried a fun Marbling technique which was introduced to me by the talented Kara Vrabel (she used several spray mists) some weeks ago. I took a flat plastic container and filled it with water. Then I lightly spritzed it with Ranger Adirondack Color Wash Spray in «Cranberry» and swirled it around with the end of a paint brush. I grabbed a piece of white cardstock and quickly placed it on the surface of the water and removed it right away. I let it air dry completely before adhering it to the inside of my card. The effect is really cool and I like to try it again with some other mediums and colors.

I cut a second piece of white cardstock in the same size and adhered it to the back of my card to hide the glue. Since the card is transparent you could write your message on the back.

it's already time for a new theme over at the bastel-traum.ch Challenge: use «Glitter» on your creations.

 

The challenge will run until December 15th, 8:55 am CET (Central European Time).

I made another Christmas card for my stash using the pretty «Hand Drawn Snowflakes» background from Hero Arts.

I went with aqua and turquoise tones. The cardstock is from Bazzill and Stampin' Up!. I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark and heat embossed it with the gorgeous Judikins «Iridescent Sparkle» embossing powder. Love that stuff!

The sentiment from the Hero Arts «Holiday Greetings» stamp set was heat embossed in white. I glued it on a stamped leftover piece of paper and adhered it at an angle with foam tape.

Hero Arts Christmas Card Trio

Hello everyone,

today I have something different for you – I created a set of Christmas cards with some gorgeous Hero Arts stamps.

I was inspired by some Nordic or Scandinavian Folk Art designs and made my own pattern using these small stamps from the «Build a Wreath by Lia» and «Scandinavian Holiday by Lia» stamp sets. The tiny hearts which work perfect as space fillers come from the «Peace & Joy» set.

To create this typical look I decided to only have two colors – traditional Red and White. All the images were randomly stamped in Hero Arts «Red Royal» Shadow Ink. I think this design would also look great in Aqua or multiple colors.

On my first card I used the whole background piece, die cut it with a Simon Says Stamp «Stitched Rectangle» die and glued it to my white top folding card base. I also die cut two stitched squares and stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment from the «Joy To The World» set. I adhered those squares with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

For the second card I stamped another background and die cut a heart (Stampin' Up! «Heart Collection» Framelits) from the center. I created a card base from SU «Riding Hood Red» cardstock and white heat embossed the beautiful scripty sentiment («Peace & Joy» stamp set) where the heart window would be. I also added two little hearts to balance things out. Finally I adhered my stamped panel with foam tape.

Since I still had the die cut heart left from the 2nd card I decided to make a third card with a really simple design. I cut another heart from red cardstock that would be a mat behind the stamped heart. I popped it up with foam tape and stamped the sentiment from the «Holiday Greetings» stamp set directly onto my white card base. I heat embossed it with ZING! «Metallic Red» embossing powder.

DT Skipping Stones Design | Ombré Butterfly

Hi everyone,

today I'm back again on the Skipping Stones Design Blog to share with you another Butterfly card (yes, I really LOVE butterflies *giggle*).

I used one of the larger images from the Breathtaking Butterflies set and stamped it with an Ombré ink (Tide Pool to Navy) by Hero Arts. I really love the gradient you can achieve with just one ink pad. I stamped the beautiful LIFE quote underneath the butterfly in Versafine «Onyx Black» which gives a really crisp impression since the text is very small.

When I looked at my card it reminded me of a butterfly specimen in a nature museum's exhibition or something like that. So I had to frame it using the Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp.

Homework OCC | Background Check | Day 1+3

Hi everyone,

although I'm pretty busy at the moment, I didn't want to miss the current Online Card Class Background Check.

I created a card using one of the fun techniques with ink reaction shown on Day 1 by Jennifer McGuire: Distress inked background and using a baby wipe over a stencil on top.

I inked up my background with three Distress Inks: «Salty Ocean», «Peacock Feathers» and «Cracked Pistachio». Then I positioned the Hero Arts «Leaf & Flourish» stencil on top and carefully wiped a baby wipe over it to remove some of the ink. I really like this kind of bleached/washed out look.

I was inspired by Jennifer’s card design and cut my inked panel in two pieces and adhered them to my card base leaving a gap. Then I stamped my sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp stamp set with Versafine «Onyx Black» in between. The word «happy» was cut from silver glitter cardstock using a SSS die.

I link up my finished card to the Day 3 Student Gallery. If I'd like to make another card for this class I will have to hurry because it will end pretty soon ;-)

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #316

Hello peeps,

today starts a new Everyody-Art-Challenge and this time we have a sketch for you that I designed (that's my first sketch ever *hehe*).

I like this sketch more than my actual take on it ;o)

I created a love themed card. For a romantic and soft look I chose Stampin' Up!'s «Very Vanilla» and «Sahara Sand». Since I pulled out some of my neglected Hero Arts stamps lately, I used this lovely bird on my card. The background stamp «I love lace» is from Stampin' Up! and I stamped it in «Fog» ink by Simon Says Stamp because I wanted it to be very light. I also stamped it in «Sahara Sand» and die cut two strips with an MFT die. I added them to the background making sure it fits the pattern. Then I took the SSS «Stitched Square» die to cut out my final panel.

I found out that the «Wet Cement» shadow ink from Hero Arts matches the «Sahara Sand» cardstock even better than the SU  ink and stamped the bird with it. I die cut two circles, stacked them together and adhered them with foam tape. The sentiment (means «With Love»), the matching banner die and those beautiful fabric flowers are from Stampin' Up!, too.

DT bastel-traum.ch Challenge March

Good morning everyone,

first of all, thank you so much for your sweet get well wishes. Not 100% healthy yet, but feeling better.

it's time for the new bastel-traum.ch Challenge with the theme «Easter». The challenge will run until April 15th, 8:55 am CET.

I don't send a lot of Easter cards although I enjoy creating them ;o) Since I LOVE the look of white on kraft, I created this simple card:

One of my favorite kraft cardstocks is «Crumb Cake» by Stampin' Up!. I think polka dots are just perfect for Easter, so I stamped the Hero Arts «Raindrop Background» in VersaMark and heat embossed it with white powder. Before stamping, I masked off a strip for my sentiment which is from Stampin' Up! (it's from the German stamp set «Frohe Osterbotschaft» and means «Happy Easter»).

This beautiful floral frame is from an older OhDeerMe stamp set. Freckled Fawn and Hero Arts did it in collaboration and I just bought it on sale because of the frame ;o) I stamped it on vellum, white embossed and fussy cut it. Then I die-cut this cute little bunny (Memory Box «Springtime Bunnies») and adhered it with foam tape.

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #315

Hello everyone,

I missed last week's Everybody-Art-Challenge because my kids were sick. Unfortunately, I caught the bug, too :o(

But I managed to create this card for the current challenge with the theme «Something Old»:

Therefore I used the «Floating Blossoms» background stamp from Hero Arts. It was released in 2009 – that's old, isn't it? ;o) I love how timeless these flowers are. I stamped in VersaMark onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock by Tim Holtz and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I did some watercoloring with Distress Inks.

The scripty sentiment is also from Hero Arts and I white embossed it on a strip of navy cardstock. For some dimension, I adhered the sentiment strip and my watercolor panel with foam tape.

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #313

Good morning everyone,

the new theme over at the Everybody-Art-Challenge is «Monochrome».

Therefore I created a blue Birthday card combining two current popular techniques:  Stenciling and Watercoloring.

At first, I did the stenciled background using the fabulous «Tweed Pattern» stencil from Hero Arts and Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste. After letting it air dry for about 30 minutes, I added three bluish Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire) and water. I heat set it with my heat tool and did some random ink splatters.

Since this background reminds me of an underwater world and the recipient's zodiac is Pisces, I added the little fish from the «Ori Kami» stamp set from Altenew. I heat embossed it on vellum and did some fussy cutting. My sentiment was build with the Mama Elephant's «happy» die cut («Happy Script» die and foil cardstock) and a white embossed «birthday» by Winnie & Walter.

At least, I adhered some matching sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and my stash.

Homework OCC | Clean and Simple 4 | Day 1

Hello everyone,

Don't laugh at me, because I'm WAY BEHIND with my homework for the Online Card Class «Clean and Simple 4».

The lessons are already over and I really enjoyed them – there were a lot of fun techniques I would love to try.

For Day 1 I picked the technique that Jennifer McGuire was showing. She did some heat embossing with multiple powders and masking.

And this is what I came up with:

I really wanted to use a butterfly for this technique but it wasn't so easy to find a background stamp that worked well with it. At first I stamped the Hero Arts «Four Leaf Grid» background in VersaMark onto Bazzill «Taffy» cardstock. I then die-cut the «Paulina» butterfly by Simon Says Stamp from a sheet of Inkadinkado «Stamp Masking Paper» and adhered the negative carefully to the panel. I heat embossed the butterfly with «Calypso Coral» embossing powder from Stampin' Up!. The rest was done with clear embossing powder from Ranger.

Since I wasn't really happy with my embossed butterfly (the shape of the wings' tips aren't showing so well), I die-cut the smaller «Chrissy» butterfly (SSS) from vellum and adhered it on top. To embellish my card I added a matching MME enamel dot and this gorgeous «Danke» (which means «Thanks») chipboard from Create A Smile.

I don't know if I will have the time to create more cards for this class but I will surely use those techniques in the future.

Homework OCC | Stretch your stamps 2 | Day 6

Guten Morgen zusammen,

ich habe heute wieder eine Karte für die Online Card Class «Stretch your stamps 2» für Euch. Ich hoffe, dass ich Euch damit nicht langweile, aber ich habe mächtig Spaß beim Ausprobieren der gezeigten Techniken.

Da ich ja bereits für den 5. Tag das Set «Fresh Flowers» von Clearly Besotted Stamps verwendet habe, kam es auch noch für Tag 6 (More Outline Stamps) zum Einsatz.

Debby Hughes zeigte, dass man neben Papier auch andere Materialien bestempeln kann. Ich habe es mit «Life Cherry Wood Veneer Paper» von Simon Says Stamp versucht. Die Blumen habe ich weiß embosst und anschließend ganz vorsichtig mit Prismacolor Pencils coloriert. Normale Stempelfarbe sowie Copics funktionieren bei diesem Wood Veneer Paper nicht wirklich, da es recht aufsaugt und somit «blutet». Den violetten Cardstock habe ich mit dem Hintergrundstempel «Tweed Pattern» von Hero Arts clear embosst.

Die Klasse geht nun zu Ende und ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich die Zeit haben werde, weitere Karten zu werkeln. Mal sehen…

Homework OCC | Stretch your stamps 2 | Day 2

Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben,

hier kommt nun meine Karte für den 2. Tag der «Stretch your stamps 2» Class.

Laura Sterckx  zeigte in ihrem Video wie man einen Ombre Effect mit Distress Inks über einem embossten Hintergrund erzielt.

Ich habe diese Technik ein wenig abgewandelt, denn bei meiner Karte ist der Farbver-
lauf nicht linear sondern radial. Das bedeutet, das Blau ist in der Mitte am dunkelsten («Peacock Feathers») ist und wird nach außen hin heller («Tumbled Glass»).

Der transparent embosste Hintergrund «Herbs 'N' Honey Tile Background» stammt von BasicGrey/Hero Arts. Des weiteren habe ich den genialen «Highline Chalkboard Background» Stempel (ebenfalls BasicGrey/Hero Arts) in einem hellen Grau («Fog» von Simon Says Stamp) gestempelt, anschließend einen Kreis ausgestanzt und diesen mit Foam Pads aufgeklebt.

Die tolle «thanks»-Stanze (SSS) habe ich von der lieben und talentierten Francine (Herzlichen Dank nochmal!) geschenkt bekommen. Das ausgestanzte Wort habe ich mehrfach mit «Liquid Platinum» Embossing Powder von Ranger embosst, dadurch ist es nun so schön «metallisch». Die Sequins sind wieder von Pretty Pink Posh.

Hoffentlich kann ich dran bleiben und Euch weitere Kreationen, inspiriert durch diesen tollen Kurs (für den man sich übrigens jederzeit registrieren kann), zeigen.

DT-Card Everybody-Art-Challenge #283

Hallo zusammen,

etwas verspätet, aber hier ist endlich meine Karte für die aktuelle Everybody-Art-Challenge mit dem Thema «Perlen».

Ich habe den schönen Hintergrundstempel «Floating Blossoms» von Hero Arts in Versamark gestempelt und mit transparentem Pulver embosst. Das sieht auf dem himbeerroten Cardstock von Stampin' Up! wirklich gut aus. Den «Happy Birthday»-
Text (ebenfalls SU) habe ich auf Vellum weiß embosst. Da sich durch das Erhitzen
das Vellum gewölbt hat, habe ich es mit Spezial-Klebemittel von Glue Dots befestigt. Jedoch bin ich nicht so zufrieden damit, da man den Kleber leider doch sieht und es
auf dem embossten Untergrund auch nicht besonders gut klebt.

Die Halbperlen stammen von Basic Grey (rosa) und Stampin' Up!.

So, nun muss ich auch schon weiter.

DT-Card Everybody-Art-Challenge #268

Guten Morgen meine Lieben,

da mein letzter DT-Beitrag für die Everybody-Art-Challenge schon ein Weilchen her ist, freue ich mich umso mehr, Euch heute dieses Kärtchen zeigen zu können:

Das Thema lautet «hellgrün/braun» und wenn ich ehrlich bin, konnte ich mit dieser Farbkombi erstmal nicht so viel anfangen. Doch dann dachte ich mir, kraftfarbener Cardstock bzw. «Savanne» als Kartenbasis und das frühlingsfrische Grün «Pistazie» (beide von Stampin' Up!) sollten dieser Vorgabe gerecht werden. Hinzu kam noch «Wildleder», ebenfalls von SU.

Und da ich momentan so gern embosse, habe ich den schönen Hintergrundstempel «Tweed Pattern» von Hero Arts in Versamark gestempelt und «Clear» embosst.
Das passte eben ganz wunderbar zu «Wildleder». Außerdem wollte ich gern mal mit weißem Pulver auf Vellum embossen und habe hierfür zwei schöne Blumenstempel ausgewählt. Die große Blüte ist von Stampendous («Fresh Bloom») und die kleine stammt aus dem «Flower Shop»-Stempelset von Stampin' Up!. Der Spruchstempel ist von WPlus9 und ich mag diesen simplen schmalen Font sehr gern.

Um dem Ganzen noch einen femininen, eleganten Touch zu verleihen, habe ich viele kleine Halbperlen (von Kaisercraft und SU) aufgeklebt und unter dem mit 3D Foam Pads erhöhten Textstreifen das hübsche geraffte Band (Stretchband mit Rüschen in «Pistazie», von SU) angebracht.
