DT Make it Crafty CAS Inspiration | Beach Wedding

30.09.2015

Hi crafty peeps,

I'm back again with another Make it Crafty Clean & Simple inspiration card.

For this wedding card I created a fun scene by combining two MiC digi stamps: Over the Threshold and Tropical Beach.

For the sky background and the sand I did some Ink Blending using Dye Inks (Simon Says Stamp and Memento) and Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tools. To secure the other images I masked them off. Therefore I did a lot of fussy cutting – but it was worth it in the end ;-) The rest of my beach wedding scene was colored with Copics.

To make the sentiment (which is from Stampin' Up! and means «Congrats to you two») pop against the sand I heat embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Homework OCC | Watercolor: Exploring Mediums | Day 2

29.09.2015

Hi everyone,

Today I want to show you my homework for the Online Card Class Watercolor for Card Makers: Exploring Mediums.

http://onlinecardclasses.com/watercolorEM/class-info/

I made a Baby card for Day 2 where Kristina Werner showed us how to do No-Line Watercoloring with Distress Inks.

At first I stamped the elephant, bunny and soap bubbles from the cute Mama Elephant «Ella & Friends» stamp set in «Pumice Stone». To get a lighter impression of the images for the no-line coloring look I stamped them on a piece of scratch paper first. Then I stamped the 2nd generation onto my Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I colored the elephant with «Iced Spruce» and the bunny with «Pumice Stone». For the light blue wash around the images I used my one and only ;-) Kuretake ZIG Clean Color Real Brush (036 – Light Blue).

The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant «Just Hatched» stamp set and I heat embossed it with «Liquid Platinum» embossing powder by Ranger. I used the largest «Stitched Rectangle» die from Simon Says Stamp to cut my watercolor panel. I also die-cut the ME «Femme Frames» scalloped rectangle from blue cardstock and adhered everything to a grey card base.

I embellished my card with two paper banners and a tiny blue die-cut heart.

DT Skipping Stones Design | Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

25.09.2015

Hello again,

if you're looking for my Skipping Stones Stamp & Share Challenge #2 post, please click here or just scroll down.

Today, Skipping Stones Design has the honor to take part in the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

I created this fall-themed coffee card using images from the Skipping Stones Design Funny Coffee Vol.#1 stamp set.

I colored the coffee travel mug with Copics and fussy cut it. The patterned papers are from Echo Park and Fancy Pants. To cut out the striped patterned paper I used a Simon Says Stamp «Stitched Circle» die and matted it with another circle of Dark Brown cardstock. I also die-cut the SSS «Circle Loops» from Ivory cardstock. The banner die which I used for the sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. I cut a thin strip of Coffee Glitter Cardboard and also punched out a little heart.

The pretty wooden leaves are from my stash and I tucked them behind the coffee travel mug which was adhered with doubled-up foam tape. I embellished my card with Enamel Dots from Studio Calico and My Mind's Eye.

Now please head over to the Skipping Stones Design Blog to see what the DT created for this special hop. SSD is giving away a Funny Coffee set and a $15 gift card!

DT Skipping Stones Design | Stamp & Share Challenge #2

Hi peeps,

today starts our second Skipping Stones Stamp & Share Challenge.

This time we have an inspiration photo for you.

And here is my take:

Since the inspiration photo has a special mood, I decided to do some Ink Smooshing on my card incorporating the grey and turquoise tones. The Distress Inks I used are «Pumice Stone» and «Peacock Feathers». I also added some random ink splatters with a paint brush. When everything was completely dry, I white heat embossed the bird on a branch and the «Hello» sentiment from the Heartsong 2 stamp set.

For the challenge details and the cards of my team mates please hop over to the Skipping Stones Design Blog. And don't forget – a free SSD stamp set will be given away to one random entry!

Thank you so much for stopping by! See you later today with another fun post!

DT Skipping Stones Design | Ombré Butterfly

22.09.2015

Hi everyone,

today I'm back again on the Skipping Stones Design Blog to share with you another Butterfly card (yes, I really LOVE butterflies *giggle*).

I used one of the larger images from the Breathtaking Butterflies set and stamped it with an Ombré ink (Tide Pool to Navy) by Hero Arts. I really love the gradient you can achieve with just one ink pad. I stamped the beautiful LIFE quote underneath the butterfly in Versafine «Onyx Black» which gives a really crisp impression since the text is very small.

When I looked at my card it reminded me of a butterfly specimen in a nature museum's exhibition or something like that. So I had to frame it using the Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!

Faux Watercolor Flower Wreath

19.09.2015

Happy Saturday everyone,

a couple of weeks ago I tried something new. Since I'm not that good in freehand coloring I decided to use some stamps from Winnie & Walter (In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya) and My Favorite Things (Desert Bouquet) to create my flower wreath.

At first I draw a thin circle pencil line and then stamped the different flower and leaf images to build a wreath. I used Studio Calico Color Theory Dye Inks on Canson Cold Press Watercolor Paper (140 lb). To achieve that Faux Watercolor look I carefully went over the stamped images with a ZIG Watercolor Brush to make them more blurry. I didn't put any water to the smallest images which I used as fillers because I wanted to keep the crisp stamped lines.

After everthing was completely dry I stamped the «Make a Wish» sentiment from the My Favorite Things «Brushstroke Birthday» stamp set in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with «Gold Rich Pale Regular» embossing powder from WOW!. The brushstroke is from the MFT «Abstract Art» set. I stamped the middle of the aqua flowers in Tsukineko Golden Glitz ink to add a little bit more gold to my project which measured approximately 8" x 11" in the end.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

DT Make it Crafty CAS Challenge #5 | Studio Set

16.09.2015

Hello everyone,

Today I want to show you the full card which I made for the current Make it Crafty CAS Challenge #5 with the theme «Shades of Black & White».

I created a Farewell card for a co-worker who retired a couple of weeks ago. He is a passionate photographer that's why I chose the Studio Set Digi Stamp.

I wasn't quite sure how to color the image with only shades of black and white because I never did an image like this before. So the pre-colored image in the Make it Crafty Store was really helpful ;-)

I added a sentiment with my computer before printing the image. Then I used my Copics (Cool, Warm and Neutral Greys) to color in the scene. I embellished my card with some die-cuts and a Tim Holtz film strip. The only tiny pop of color is the little red heart *giggle*.

You still have time to enter our «Shades of Black & White» challenge by the end of the month. You can find all the details HERE.
