Same but different #9

31.05.2015

Hi everyone,

it's time again for our monthly «Same but different» challenge. Do you want to know more about this challenge? Please click HERE.
This time we used the «Hand Lettered Encouragement» stamp set from Simon Says Stamp:

And here is my take – I made a CAS card (sorry for the bad photo):

I created a background by repeatedly stamping the «feel better» sentiment with Simon Says Stamp «Fog» ink. Except for one which I stamped with the gorgeous «Hot Lips» ink. I only added a little die-cut heart and adhered my panel to a matching card base.

If you have the same stamp set and get inspired by our challenge, feel free to play it with us! Leave a direct link to your project in the comment field below (No back links, please! It will be funnier to see new creations!). You can also upload your cards to our Same but different challenge Flickr gallery!

Once again, we want to thank Stéphanie for joining our last challenge with her awesome card!

Now hop over to Francine to see her awesome creation.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

DT Make it Crafty CAS Inspiration | Girl's Secret Swing

30.05.2015

Hi everyone,

today I'm over at the Make it Crafty Store Blog to share a Clean & Simple inspiration card.

I colored the Girl's Secret Swing image with my Prismacolor pencils. I really love how they look on Kraft cardstock («Crumb Cake» from Stampin' Up!). Since these cuties share a little secret, I added the «pssst…» sentiment from the SU «Happy Watercolor» stamp set. I kept the design pretty simple to focus on the image. To create this pretty border around my image I used the My Favorite Things «In & Out Diagonal Stitched Square STAX Die-namics». I matted my panel with SU «Early Espresso» cardstock and adhered it to a Kraft card base with foam tape. I added two little hearts which I die-cut from Simon Says Stamp «Cherry Wood Veneer Paper».

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #326 and a Farewell

26.05.2015

Hi everyone,

sadly, this is my very last post as a DT member for the Everybody-Art-Challenge :o(
Thanks to Andrea/Emmi41 and the team.

For my card I used some pretty Essentials by Ellen products which were designed by the talented Julie Eberole.

Here is this week's EAC sketch that it's based on:

I really love the look of the «Bold Blossoms» Designer Dies which I cut from Stampin' Up! cardstock. The sentiment is from the «Bold Blooms» stamp set and I heat embossed it in gold. For my layers I took a piece of the striped SU Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye. To embellish my card I added a couple of MME enamel dots.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #325

19.05.2015

Good morning everyone,

it's time for another Everybody-Art-Challenge and the new theme is «Not angular/square».

I think, you could create some shaped cards using circle or heart dies. OK, I cheated a bit and used a corner rounder on my creation ;o)

For my Baby card, I did some Tone-on-Tone Stamping. These cute animals are from the Stampin' Up! «Zoo Babies» set and I stamped them with Simon Says Stamp dye inks onto SU cardstock. Then I did some fun Inlaid Die-Cutting. The SSS «Stitched Circles» are just perfect for this technique because they have this gorgeous stitching detail on the inside and also on the outside. The sentiment (which means «Welcome little sunshine») is from a German manufacturer called Alexandra Renke and I heat embossed it in «Liquid Platinum» from Ranger. Finally, I added a couple of heat embossed stars from Mama Elephant's «Make a Wish» stamp set.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Wishing you a great week!

DT Make it Crafty CAS Challenge #1 | Tutorial

16.05.2015

Hi lovely peeps,

remember this sneak peek from a couple of days ago?

Today, I’m so excited to share with you my very first Step by Step Tutorial for the Make it Crafty CAS challenge #1. This month’s theme is «Background techniques». For my card I created an ombré background using a stencil and DIY colored embossing paste. I took some photos during the process to show you how easy it is to add some fun colorful texture to your projects.

Here are the supplies I used:

                                                  Wendi Vecchi white embossing paste
Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean)
                                                  Tim Holtz «Dot Fade» stencil,
                                                  Ranger Non-stick craft sheet
                                                  Palette knife
Neenah Solar White cardstock 110 lb

Step 1
I fixed a piece of white cardstock and the stencil on top with washi tape to prevent sliding.
Off to the side, I pressed down my Distress Ink pads onto the non-stick craft sheet.

Step 2
With my palette knife I added some white embossing paste to each of the colors.

Step 3
Be sure to really mix it well to get an evenly colored paste.

Step 4
Starting from the top, I spread the paste over the stencil. I worked my way down in thirds.

Step 5
Finally, I scraped away the excess by pulling my palette knife from the top to the bottom which helps to blend the colors. I carefully removed the stencil and let my background air dry for about 20 minutes.

You could also use other kinds of inks or your re-inkers to easily color your embossing paste. What I really like is that you can change the brightness of the paste just depending on how much color you add.
Just one more tip: you’ll have to clean your work surface, palette knife and stencil immediately using a baby wipe or warm water!

Here is the completed card using the adorable «Melody» rubber stamp (colored with Copics) and the «happy» from the «Doodle Giggle Word Chipboard» set.

Please enter your CAS project using a background technique and at least ONE Make it Crafty product by the end of the month. You can find all the details HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

DT bastel-traum.ch Challenge May

15.05.2015

Hello everyone,

today I want to share with you my card for the bastel-traum.ch Challenge – the new theme is «Water».
http://bastel-traum.blogspot.ch/
The challenge will run until June 15th, 8:55 am CET.

In Germany, yesterday's Ascension day is also Father's Day and this is the card I made for my lovely daddy.

At first, I created this kind of watery background with Distress Inks («Tumbled Glass», «Salty Ocean» and «Peacock Feathers») and lots of water. I also added some random splatters by flipping my paint brush. After everything was completely dry, I stamped the wave image from the Studio Calico «Message in a Bottle» stamp set in VersaMark and heat embossed it with aqua embossing powder. Then I carefully cut along the top of the wave with my craft knife to create a slit. I white embossed the bottle on vellum and fussy cut it right against the edge. I stamped the sentiment and heart from the Simon Says Stamp «Sending happy thoughts» stamp set and heat embossed it in «Cherry Cobbler» (Stampin' Up!) and «Liquid Platinum» (Ranger). The cork was made out of wood veneer paper. I tucked the bottle in the slit at an angle so it looks like it peeks out of the waves. To finish my card, I adhered some matching Doodlebug pearls and a strip of My Mind's Eye washi tape to create a border.

I enter my card to the SSS Flickr Challenge #19 – Create your own background.

Thank you so much for stopping by! See you tomorrow :o)

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #324

12.05.2015

Hi peeps,

with a bit of delay, I want to show you my card for the Everybody-Art-Challenge. This week's theme is «Wedding».

I used the beautiful «Irresistibly Yours Speciality DSP» from Stampin' Up!. It already has this glossy leaves design and it resists the color you can apply over it. I added some «Sea Glass» ink from Simon Says Stamp with my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. Then I die-cut the border with one of the My Favorite Things «Stitched Basic Edges» Die-namics. The SU sentiment is heat embossed with my beloved «Liquid Platinum» embossing powder from Ranger. For the delicate wreath I used a Poppystamps die and cut it from silver glitter cardboard. I added three little vellum blossoms to the wreath and put some light blue pearls in the middle.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

DT Stempelgarten Challenge May

05.05.2015

Hello again,

if you're looking for my EAC post, please click here.

Today starts the new Stempelgarten Challenge with the theme «Embossing».

http://stempelgartenchallenge.blogspot.ch/

I decided to do some fun heat embossing using two colors of embossing powder on one stamp and a masking technique. This is probably the most CAS card I've ever done ;o) Although, it was a bit tricky.

At first, I stamped this gorgeous quote from the Kaisercraft «True Friendship» stamp set in VersaMark right in the middle of my card. Then I punched a heart from a piece of masking paper and lightly adhered the negative over my stamped image. I sprinkled on some «Cherry Cobbler» embossing powder from Stampin' Up!. After that, I carefully removed the mask and covered the rest of the text with «Calypso Coral», also from SU and heat embossed everything.

You will have time until May 31st, 2015 to join our challenge and this is the prize you could win:

A craft package from the Stempelgarten Online Shop with a value of CHF 20.00.

I'd like to take part in the following challenges:
Naughty or Nice Challenges
NON15 – Friends
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
Anything Goes

Thank you so much for stopping by!

DT Everybody-Art-Challenge #323

Good morning peeps,

the new theme for the Everybody-Art-Challenge is an easy peasy one – «Happy Birthday». That's the most common occasion I create cards for, I think.

I hope I don't bore you ;o) but here comes my third card using the same arrangement of Papertrey Ink's «Doodlie-do» stamps. I can't get enough of these pretty flowers *hehe*.

This time, I white heat embossed them onto «Bermuda Bay» cardstock from Stampin' Up!. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Stamps («Fabulous Fuchsias») and I stamped it in Versafine «Onyx Black».

Why not give this birthday card to a man? What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by and see you later with a second post.
