MFT Camp Create Bonus: Divine Dry Embossing

22.06.2017

Hi peeps,

when you can't sleep because of the heat and a stomach bug, you try to cure yourself with crafting ;-)

Today is the last day to submit your work to the current session of the My Favorite Things Camp Create.

I made a bonus card for the bonfire craft Divine Dry Embossing.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blog/camp-create-june-bonfire/

For this fun technique, I created a dry embossed background using the «Wild Greenery» Die-namics.

To make things easier, I arranged the dies face-down and picked them up with a piece of GLAD Press'n Seal. Next, I carefully placed them onto my cardstock and ran everything through my die-cutting machine using an embossing mat so the dies wouldn't cut through the cardstock but only leave impressions. Then I rotated the dies by 180° (pretty quick thanks to the Press'n Seal) and embossed the other half of the cardstock. I really like the subtle look you achieve with dry embossing. To add some stitched detail and rounded corners, I cut my dry embossed panel with the largest die from the «Blueprints 31» set. I adhered it with foam sheet to the top-folding card base.

I colored one of the cuties from the «Sweet Sloths» set with Copics and used the coordinating die to cut it out. I also cut a piece of patterned paper («Calm & Cozy Chevron 6x6 Paper Pack») with a «Stitched Circle STAX» die. The sentiment from the same stamp set was white heat embossed on a strip of dark brown cardstock. I popped up the sloth with foam tape and added enamel dots as a finishing touch.

Of course there is a special bonfire badge to complete my collection :-) I had a blast creating!

MFT Camp Create Day 5: Glitzy Glitter

21.06.2017

Hello again,

so happy that I was able to make a last card for the first session of My Favorite Things Camp Create 2017.

Thank you MFT for hosting this fun and inspiring event! The final craft for Day 5 is Glitzy Glitter.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blog/camp-create-june-16/

Therefore I picked my favorite glitter cardstock and pretty «Metallic Brass Sparkle Embossing Glitter» by WOW!.

At first, I created a little frame element by cutting the glitter cardstock as well as a piece of white foam with one of the «Stitched Square Scallop Frames». I stacked the die-cuts together for a little bit of dimension and trimmed some vellum a tad smaller than my frame. Next, I stamped the sentiment from the «Lucky» set in VersaMark and heat embossed it with the sparkly WOW! glitter.

The flower is actually from my small stash of pre-colored images from the last The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin. I masked the floral image and added the leaves before coloring it with Prismacolor Pencils.

For my background I chose a piece of patterned paper from the «Proper Pinstripes 6x6 Paper Pack» and matted it onto purple cardstock. To finish my card, I adhered some sequins with a «Platinum Stickles» dot in the middle.

Yippie! So proud that I managed to collect all 5 badges!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful evening!

MFT Camp Create Day 4: Sensational Sliders

Hello everyone,

Phew! I was sweating in my craft room creating another card for My Favorite Things Camp Create.

For Day 4 the craft is Sensational Sliders. To be honest, I rarely make this kind of interactive cards, so it took me quite a while ;-)

I created a little ocean scene with the «You Float My Boat» stamps and coordinating dies, Distress Inks and some additional MFT products.

At first, I stamped the cute sail boat with MFT Premium Dye Inks (Blueberry, Blu Raspberry and Chili Powder) and the help of my MISTI. Next, I blended together three Distress Inks (Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch) and added lots of water sprinkles. When everything was completely dry, I cut some waves with the «Stitched Scallop Edges» Die-namics and white heat embossed the sentiment.

The most tricky part was to construct the hidden slider channel for my boat. I really used a lot of foam tape on this card :-)

For the sun in the background, I did some faded Ink Blending with Lemon Chiffon and Insulation Pink. I stamped the birds from the «Party Like A Pirate» set in VersaFine «Onyx Black» and adhered two die-cut and shaded clouds («Cloud 9» Die-namics) with foam tape.

And here is my fourth Camp Create Badge! Woot woot!

Thank you so much for stopping by! See ya soon!

MFT Camp Create Day 3: Spectacular Shakers

19.06.2017

Hi peeps,

hope you've enjoyed a sunny weekend. I'm glad I could squeeze in another card for My Favorite Things Camp Create.

Spectacular Shakers are the craft for Day 3 and MFT has all the required supplies to easily create them.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blog/camp-create-june-14/

I finally used the adorable Birdie Brown «Mermazing» stamp set. These cute images just make me smile :-)

At first, I stamped one of the mermaids and her little fish friend and colored them with Copics. To create a water background, I quickly draw some wavy lines with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and blended them with water. I also added some water droplets to lift the color here and there. To complete my little ocean scene, I stamped the three little fishes with «Broken China» Distress Oxide Ink.

For my shaker element, I used the new «Ocean View Porthole» Die-namics (cut from silver foil cardstock) and a circle shaker pouch. Before carefully putting my shaker together, I filled it with sequins and seed beads.

The woodplank paper is from the «Tranquil Textures 6x6 Paper Pack» and I cut it with a rounded stitched rectangle die from the «Blueprints 31» set. Finally, I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine «Onyx Black».

Yay! Here comes my third earned Camp Create Badge!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

MFT Camp Create Day 2: Remarkable Resist

17.06.2017

Hello everyone,

it's almost too hot for crafting, but I managed to create a new card for the My Favorite Things Camp Create.

For Day 2 it's all about Emboss Resist which is one of my favorite techniques in combo with watercoloring.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blog/camp-create-june-13/

I chose the MFT «Etched Flower Background» and heat embossed it on Tim Holtz «Distress Watercolor Cardstock» with clear embossing powder. Love all the detail of this pretty stamp!

I applied a wash of water all over my heat embossed panel and randomly spread the Distress Oxide Inks with a paint brush. I absolutely like how well the colors «Broken China», «Wilted Violet» and «Worn Lipstick» fit together. In-between, I dried the watercoloring with my heat gun and added layer by layer.

After letting my watercolor panel dry completely, I cut it with the largest rectangle die from the «Blueprints 1» set. For the sentiment, I die cut the word «hugs» from the «Words for Friends» Die-namics and used the negative which I popped up with tiny pieces of foam tape.

To embellish my card, I added some clear iridescent sequins in different sizes and a little butterfly.

And this is my second Camp Create Badge :-)

Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope you'll have a fantastic weekend!

DT bastel-traum.ch Challenge #54

15.06.2017

Good morning peeps,

it's the 15th of the month and this means we have a new theme over at the bastel-traum.ch Blog: we invite you to create something WATER-themed.
http://bastel-traum.blogspot.ch/
This challenge will run until July 15th, 8:55 am CET (Central European Time).

I made this fun birthday card by creating an underwater scene with Avery Elle products and Distress Inks.

For the ocean background, I blended together «Mermaid Lagoon», «Salty Ocean», «Blueprint Sketch» and «Faded Jeans» on Tim Holtz «Distress Watercolor Cardstock». I generously sprinkled on water droplets and dabbed them off with a paper towel.

The Avery Elle «Horizontal Stripes» die is so much fun – not only because of the striped design but it also cuts this circle window and comes with the «hooray» word die. I stamped all these adorable creatures from the «Swim Team» set and colored them with Copics. I fussy cut them out and arranged them in the circle window – a couple of images were popped up with foam tape for more dimension.

I thought it would be fun to add a balloon to my scene and the Doodlebug «Balloons Shape Sprinkles» are just perfect. I tied some string around the balloon's end and attached it behind the whale's fin so it looks like he is holding it.

For my birthday sentiment, I combined a stacked (3 layers of white cardstock and 1 layer of silver glitter cardstock) «hooray» die-cut with a silver heat embossed sentiment by Simon Says Stamp («Happy & Smile» stamp set). Finally, I applied Nuvo «Moonlight Dew» Crystal Drops which dry perfectly round and clear.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

MFT Camp Create Day 1: Wonderful Watercolor

14.06.2017

Hi everyone,

on Monday started the first session of this year's Camp Create over at the My Favorite Things blog.

I hope to be able to participate in all five crafts presented this week. For Day 1 the theme is: Watercolor Wonder.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blog/camp-create-june-12/

I created this summery floral card using the beautiful «Blissful Blooms» stamp set.

At first, I randomly arranged the images in my MISTI and stamped them in VersaMark. I heat embossed them with white embossing powder and did some watercoloring with my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Next, I cut out the watercolor panel with a circle die. I also die cut a blue cardstock mat using the «Stitched Cirlce STAX» Die-namics.

For the background, I chose a pretty yellow paper from the «Watercolor Wash 6x6 Paper Pack» and cut it with the stitched rectangle die from the «Blueprints 29» set. The sentiment from the «Label Maker Love» set was stamped in VersaFine «Onyx Black» and I popped it up with foam tape.

To add even more summer feeling, I die cut some leaves with the «Wild Greenery» Die-namics. I built a little cluster with paper flowers which I haven't used on my cards for ages ;-)

I'm so happy to have earned my very first Camp Create Badge.

Thank you so much for stopping by! See you tomorrow!

Simon Says Stamp Sail Away Birthday Wishes

12.06.2017

Happy Monday everyone,

after spending the weekend in the warm sunshine, I'm back today with this matching masculine birthday card.

I used the nautical-themed «Sailing» stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. At first, I stamped the waves border with SSS «Mali Blue» Dye Ink directly onto my white card base. The sailboat and clouds were colored with Copics and I fussy cut them out. Next, I heat embossed the beautiful «Sail Away» sentiment with Ranger «Liquid Platinum» embossing powder and also stamped the other sentiment in VersaFine «Onyx Black». Finally, I adhered some leftover strips of patterned paper by Simple Stories.

I'm entering the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with the theme Make it Masculine.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

DT Stempelgarten Challenge June

05.06.2017

Good morning everyone,

it's already June and we have a new theme for the Stempelgarten Challenge – «Clean and Simple».

http://stempelgartenchallenge.blogspot.ch/

Although CAS is one of my favorite cardmaking styles, it often takes me hours to finish one single card ;-)

I had a leftover watercolor piece from when I was experimenting with Distress Oxide Inks and decided to do some Inlaid Die Cutting using the beautiful Memory Box «Gorgeous Gardenia Outline» die.

First, I cut a panel from Simon Says Stamp «Fog» cardstock using the stitched rectangle from the My Favorite Things «Blueprints 29» Die-namics set. Next, I placed the gardenia die in the right bottom corner and run it through my die cutting machine again. I put some Ken Oliver «Stick it» adhesive behind the negative cut out. I die cut the flowers and leaves from the watercolor piece and the outline from white cardstock as well. Finally, I inlaid all the die cuts into the negative space.

The sentiment is from the MFT »LJD Spring Wreath» stamp set and I heat embossed it in white. I adhered two glitter gumdrops by Your Next Stamp to the middle of the gardenias.

You will have time until June 30th, 2017 to join our challenge and this is the prize you could win:

A craft package from the Stempelgarten Online Shop with a value of CHF 20.–.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a beautiful Whit Monday!
